T-Bob: Gotta go with my heart on this one

The City of New Orleans is filled with nervous excitement as it gets ready to watch its beloved Saints take on the Seahawks tomorrow in the Sequel In Seattle.  I too share in this excitement, albeit with mixed feelings of objectivity and subjectivity.

Objectively, my mind says that if you look at the stats and the body of work that the two teams have put together over the year, it would seem that Seattle is safe bet to win.  Heck, even Vegas has them favored by 7.

Subjectively, however, my heart feels that this Saints team can get the job done and come up with an enormous win over the NFC #1 seed. This is a Saints team that has repeatedly been told what they could not do.  “The Saints can’t run the ball!” Well, they ran for over 180 yards last week while averaging over 5 yards per carry against the NFL’s 4th best yards per carry rush defense. “The Saints can’t win a road playoff game!” Well, they also debunked this myth last week when Shayne Graham sent a game winning kick through the uprights as time expired to beat the Philadelphia Eagles 26-24 in the city of Brotherly Love.

This week, the Saints must once again look to defy the odds and avenge the 34-7 beatdown the Seahawks handed them in week 12. That’s the amazing thing about playoff football, though! Unlike hockey, baseball, and basketball, it all comes down to just one game. You don’t get second chances. What you do get is 60 minutes to lay it all on the line and try to fight your way one step closer to that ultimate goal of hoisting the Lombardi trophy.  With all this in mind, I choose to exercise my right as a fan and side with my heart.

I believe this is a Saints team that has adopted the mantle of road warriors and the path that comes with it.  I believe that veteran leadership and experience are on their side. And at the end of the day… I believe that #9 will out-duel #3 and the Saints will march out of CenturyLink Field with a nailbiting 27-24 victory!
