Suspects sought in Garden District kidnapping & rape

The New Orleans Police Department is asking for the public's help in finding three suspects wanted for kidnapping a Garden District woman from in front of her home and raping her.

Investigators say the 30-year-old victim was exiting her car on Monday evening at approximately 6:45 P.M. in the 1200 block of Eighth Street when she says she was approached by two men, one of them brandishing a gun.

Police say the men forced the victim into a waiting vehicle driven by a third man.  An NOPD spokesman says the men then "robbed and sexually assaulted the woman as they drove around."

According to an NOPD news release, the victim later told police the suspects later drove her back to 1200 block of Eighth Street, "at which time they took her car keys and stole her 1999 Silver 4 door Honda Accord bearing La. license OUZ 831."

Cops say the suspects drove off with both cars after forcing the woman out of the car at Chestnut and Eighth Streets.

The suspects are described as African-American in their early to late 20’s.  The victim says she was unable to describe the suspect’s car..  Investigators say the woman was treated and released from the hospital for bruises, scratches, and abrasions.
