Suspects identified in ''severe beating'' of musician

New Orleans Police say they know who beat a man unconscious in the French Quarter early Tuesday morning.

"The 8th District Detectives have identified both perpetrators responsible for the severe beating of a French Quarter musician Doug Potter that Occurred January 21, 2014 at 12:05am," Detective Ernest Luster said in a news release.

One of the suspects is under arrest, the second remained at large as of this morning.

"Doug Potter was walking back from his place of  employment when he had a verbal confrontation with the suspect later identified as Reeshawn Arnold in the 800 block of Conti Street outside of the 'Last Call' Bar," Luster wrote.  "Reeshawn Arnold (right) struck the victim and then both Reeshawn Arnold and Terrell Belvin (left) beat the victim until he was unconscious after the verbal altercation."

Potter has since been placed in a medically induced coma.

Luster says detectives received several tips through Crimestoppers and one other anonymous source which helped them identity "Reeshawn Arnold B/M 2-23-1993 and Terrell Belvin B/M 11/28/1983."

He says it turns out Arnold was already under arrest on an unrelated charge.

They issued an arrest warrant for Belvin.
