Storms knock out power, could bring flooding

Several thousand Entergy customers across the metro area lost power this morning as a large band of rain and thunderstorms rolled into the area.

An Entergy spokeswoman said that storms had knocked out power to 2,500 customers in Orleans Parish and 3,500 in Jefferson.

Due to the ongoing rain and storms, the spokeswoman said that some customers may not have power restored until late this afternoon.

WWL-TV meteorologist Derek Kevra says that the incoming rain and storms could also bring the possibility of street flooding.

"Overall, all of Southeast Louisiana should expect to see three inches of rain, and some pockets of heavy showers could bring up to five inches of rain," Kevra said.

The possibility of heavy rain will not end soon. The Metro area has a 70% chance of rain on Monday as well.
