Steve: Saints make roster moves, prepare for Rams drama

Drew Brees remained out of pads in today’s Saints training camp practice, but did do some throwing as he is still nursing a strained oblique. Surprisingly, he has not been ruled out of Friday night’s preseason contest in St Louis yet.
Coach Sean Payton was asked why it would even be a question, since Brees has missed four straight practice sessions including the "Black & Gold Scrimmage."
“We just haven’t come out and said which way or another,” Payton responded. “We’re kind of monitoring it day by day. He’s feeling a lot better and we’ll see. Probably by tomorrow we’ll know, but I don’t want to say one thing and all of a sudden it be the other. I know he’s feeling better.”
Payton did fill us in on a few roster moves: “Yesterday we waived Steve Hull wide receiver, Tryrone Ezel nose tackle, and linebacker Marcus Thompson,” Payton said. “We signed wide receiver Tobias Plamer and tight end Richard Quinn. It puts us at 89 right now.”
There is a bit of drama for Friday’s preseason match-up since former Saints defensive coordinator Gregg Williams is now with the Rams. Williams originally received an indefinite suspension from NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell for his involvement in “Bounty-Gate”, but is now back and coach defense under good friend and St Louis head coach Jeff Fisher.
Graham: ready to hit someone else...tired of beat up each other
Saints tight end Jimmy Graham knows one thing for sure, expect the blitz: “We were just watching, I believe it was three years ago, we played San Fran in the first preseason game, and it was like zero blitz four times out of nine. So you know it’s going to be great work for the quarterbacks, for the offensive line, for the tight ends, for everybody across the board. Thats who he (Williams) is and he brings it.”
