Steve: Pelicans open 2014-15 season vs Orlando

Will this be the season the New Orleans basketball franchise makes a return to the postseason?  Well, the Pelicans schedule for 2014-15 has been released and hopes are high that budding superstar Anthony Davis can lead the ball club to a berth in the playoffs.  It won’t be an easy task as the Western Conference is once again stacked with talent.

The Pels open the season on Tuesday, October 28th in the Smoothie King Center against the Orlando Magic. Some other highlights of their home slate include bouts against Kobe Bryant and the Lakers on November 12th, league MVP Kevin Durant and the OKC Thunder come to town on December 2nd, on December 12th it's Lebron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Big Easy and on the day after Christmas on the 26th of Decemeber the champs arrive; as the San Antonio Spurs are still loaded and looking to pull off back-to-back titles.

An ESPN forecast panel has predicted the Pelicans to finish with a record of 39-43 this season and has them winding up in 10th place in the West.  I’m going to take the over on that win total as the team hopefully stays healthy and boasts the 3rd best player in the entire league in Davis.

Here is a look at the complete Pelicans 2014-2015 schedule - home games are in bold:
