While Marcus Ball isn’t technically a rookie, I am still considering him one. The 6-foot-1, 209 pound safety comes to the Saints via the Canadian Football League. He played for the Toronto Argonauts in 2012 & 2013 after spending his college days at Memphis.
Lemme tell ya folks, this guy is stacked, packed and ready to attack. He always stands out to me on the field because of his size and the fact that he looks like he would destroy you if he laid a lick on you.
While playing linebacker in the CFL he racked up 142 tackles, 7 sacks, 4 interceptions (2 of which went for TDs) and 3 fumble recoveries.
Ball has been performing well at Saints training camp and came up with one of the plays of the day at the Black & Gold scrimmage.
He also ended the scrimmage with a sack. Ball recently turn 27 years old and also contributes on special teams; a key for any undrafted player making a team.
Despite making a lot of plays now, the safety will continue to have an uphill battle to make this roster which is pretty stacked at his position. Ball is definitely on my radar though and one of the players I am on the lookout for this preseason.
