With spring just around the corner, many families are looking for that perfect deal and to help make planning easier, Orbitz took a look at how 2013 spring destinations compare to last year when it comes to booking data, average airfare and hotel costs, and amenities.
"Typically we've been seeing that airfares have been higher and people can really save on the hotel side. However this spring it's a flip flop. We're seeing year-over-year average hotel rates are up," but you'll save on the airfare says Jeanenne Tornatore, Senior Travel Editor for Orbitz.com.
And remember, you will be competing with people traveling for spring break through mid-April.
The hot spots this year, she says, include "Orlando, Florida, followed by Las Vegas, Cancun, Fort Lauderdale and Fort Myers."
She says the best deals right now are in Florida, especially Tampa and Orlando. "We also have on our top ten list other warm weather destinations like Phoenix, Miami and Los Angeles. So we're seeing for a lot of people the warm weather is where they want to be."
And for better ski vacation deals, wait until next month. "The first couple of weeks of April actually are the last few weeks that most of the major ski resorts are open, so most of the crowds are gone but you have fantastic spring skiing weather," says Tornatore.
