Slidell mother arrested in drive-thru DUI with triplets
The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office says a 41-year-old Slidell mother was arrested Thursday evening for driving while intoxicated after she was pulled over for driving erratically with her three young children in the vehicle.
According to an STPO statement, a deputy was dispatched to the Willow Wood Subdivision near Slidell shortly before 8 p.m. after several residents called to report a white GMC SUV driving recklessly through the neighborhood.
Residents told deputies the vehicle nearly ran over three people that were standing in their own yard, a man walking his dog and several mailboxes as well as narrowly avoiding at least one collision with another vehicle.
The suspect vehicle was observed pulling into the drive-thru at a local fast food restaurant on Gause Boulevard East and a deputy stopped her.
The deputy says he noted a strong odor of alcohol on the driver's breath, slurred speech, and extremely glossy eyes. He said the woman, Licia Greenleaf, was unsure on her feet and could not stand without support.
The deputy also observed a set of triplets under the age of 3 in the back seat. They were properly restrained in approved car seats.
Greenleaf admitted to having taken prescription medication, Lexapro and Xanax, and drinking wine before leaving her residence.
She was booked into the St. Tammany Parish Jail for Driving While Intoxicated and Careless Operation.
Her children were released into the custody of a friend, and the case was forwarded to the state Department of Children and Family Services.
