On the Northshore, communities just off Lake Pontchartrain nearest where it meets Lake Borgne are risk from tidal flooding. Slidell mayor Ben Morris says they are ready to go.
Morris says preparations began Sunday.
"We're going to be keeping a close eye on the southwestern side of Slidell all during the evening," Morris said. "Anything we can pump down, we pumped down. All our stations are operational."
He says they have sandbags stockpiled and ready to go, and first responders are pre-staging.
"Police are on standby, they're going to set up a command posit by the Palm Lake area, which is one of our areas affected most by tide."
