The Saints have picked up more help at the wide receiver position.
A league source confirms the Saints have signed WR Steve Breaston. Breaston was drafted by the Cardinals in the 2007 draft in the 5th round, and was most recently in the Kansas City Chiefs lineup.
Is this related to WR Joe Morgan’s injury? Well, In some way, shape or form, it's probably related, but won't know for sure until later today. Typically, you don't bring someone in, work them out, and then sign them to a one-year deal unless there is a roster spot available. It could also mean that they’re not satisfied with someone’s performance in the WR position, or that Joe Morgan’s injury is more serious than initially thought.
We’ll find out more after today’s afternoon practice from Coach Payton about both Morgan’s injury and the signing of Breaston. Today’s practice from 2:30 to 6:30 is closed to the public, but media is allowed to observe. We’ll have a full recap following practice, along with Coach Sean Payton’s Q&A with the media sometime after 6:30.
