Saints fans hoping to travel from Metairie to the Meadowlands

Thirty-two NFL teams are beginning their pre-season training camps.  Only one will end the season in early 2014 as champions.

The Who Dat Nation is hoping the Saints are laying the foundation for a second championship season as the team practices in the sweltering mid-summer heat of Metairie. What has them the most excited?

"Sean Payton being back, for sure," said one fan at the Saints inaugural training camp practice.

"Just having him back, having our coach back," said another.  "It's great."

If having the Saints' most successful coach back from a season-long league suspension is cause for optimism, what worries these Saints fans? A defense on its third coordinator in three years and a question mark at left tackle.

"Ooh, Charlie Brown," one fan fretted about one player who could be called upon to protect quarterback Drew Brees' blindside.

"I'm worried about him," said another.

In many fans' minds, Brown is still living down a horrendous performance in the 2011 game at St. Louis.

The Saints' first preseason game is less than two weeks away, at the Superdome hosting the Kansas City Chiefs.  The season opens September 8 hosting the hated Atlanta Falcons.

Super Bowl XLVIII is February 2, 2014, at Met Life Stadium at the New Jersey Meadowlands.

Kristian: Breaking down the Saints O-line
Protection was an issue last season for the New Orleans Saints offensive line. After Terron Armstead got his first start in week 16 against the Panthers, I thought the big guys up front played much better down the stretch, creating running lanes for the...
