The Saints are bringing back kicker Shayne Graham.
The team cut Graham and kicker Derek Dimke Saturday.
WWL Saints Sideline Reporter Kristian Garic says league sources confirm the Black and Gold decided to bring Graham back for field goals and extra points in Sunday's game against the Falcons in Atlanta.
To make room on the roster, the Saints have waived QB Ryan Griffin.
Graham kicked for the Saints in 2013.
Kristian says "It's not surprising when you think of the gamesmanship form the Saints in terms of trying to maneuver a guy through waivers like QB Ryan Griffin. The Saints rolled the dice here, and might lose out on Griffin, but are hoping he's still around to add to the practice squad if another team doesn't claim him."
"The Saints clearly wanted to make sure the other roster spots were set around the league before taking this risk. In Graham's case I thought all along it would be Dimke over Graham because of salary implications, and by my estimations, Dimke had the stronger/more accurate leg. Graham is a proven veteran, and familiarity goes a long way with this coaching staff. It's a roll of the dice by the Saints with relatively low risk, until a game winning kick is on the line!"
Bobby Hebert thinks the move makes sense - Graham is right about 85% over 15 years, a percentage the Cajun Cannon says puts him "at the highest level of play." Bobby also predicted that Griffin will end up back on the Saints roster eventually.
