Saints beat Eagles, head to Seattle

It's another trip to Seattle for the Saints.  The Black the Gold will play the Seahawks in the divisional round of the playoffs after beating the Eagles.

The Saints were trailing by one point with just under five minutes to play in the game.

The drive started near midfield.  As the Black and Gold worked to run time off the clock and get at least within field goal range, they started the drive with three consecutive runs before throwing to Marques Colston and getting into a crucial 3rd and one with 2:32 to play.

Drew Brees surged forward on a quarterback keeper and had the ball 1st and ten at the Philadelphia 25 yard line.  Another run took it to the 20.

The Eagles had burned a timeout earlier in the half, and the Saints forced Philly to use its remaining t.o.'s.

With less than a minute to play, the Saints converted a critical 3rd and inches and behind another Brees run had a first down at the 14 yard line.

That left the game depending on the kick of new Saints kicker Shayne Graham.

The 32 yard field goal won the game 26 - 24.

It was the first ever Saints playoff win on the road.

As for their road struggles, Coach Sean Payton said after the game, "We traveled pretty well tonight."

Graham connected on four out of four field goals in the game.  Brees was 20/30 for 250 yards with one TD and two interceptions.  The QB also ran five times for 13 yards.  Mark Ingram ran 18 times for 97 yards, an average of 5.4 yards per carry and a TD.

"This was a great test... it was certainly a team effort," Brees said after the win.  "This was a total team victory today."

As for taking on the Seahawks again, Brees said it would not be easy.

"They've only lost one game there in the last two years... we're gonna need our best game there, that's for sure."

The Saints take on the Seahawks Saturday at 3:35pm Central Time.
