2 Saints going to 2013 Pro Bowl

Saints guard Jahri Evans and punter Thomas Morstead  are heading to Hawaii for the 2013 NFL Pro Bowl.

Quarterback Drew Brees did not make the roster.

On his Facebook page, Morstead wrote, "A big thank you goes out to every WHODAT that voted for me.
Heading to the PROBOWL thanks to all of you."

Morstead also wrote, "Im overwhelmed with all the LOVE from New Orleans Saints fans everywhere
Thank YOU!!!!!!"

Evans, originally a fourth round draft pick of the Saints in 2006 out of Bloomsburg, has earned his fourth consecutive All-Star berth. Evans’ four selections are ranked second in franchise history among offensive linemen behind T William Roaf’s seven.  Evans has opened all 111 games at right guard since entering the starting lineup in 2006, the most consecutive contests started by a Saint to open a career and currently tied for the fifth-longest streak of games started among active NFL players. In 2012, the Saints offensive line has surrendered only 24 sacks, tied for the NFL’s third fewest total, blocking for an offense that is ranked third in the NFL in net yards per game (408.9) and scoring (423 points).

The Pro Bowl honor is a first for Morstead. In 2012, the team’s fifth round draft pick in 2009 leads the NFL in both gross (50.5) and net (44.4) punting average, as he threatens to set the league single-season record for net (43.99 – San Francisco’s Andy Lee – 2011) average going into Sunday’s season finale vs. Carolina. 42 of Morstead’s kickoffs have also gone for touchbacks to tie for third in the NFC and sixth in the NFL.
