SWAT standoff in Metairie after reported child rape

The SWAT team is surrounding a house in Metairie this morning.

Cops went to the address on North Sibley near Airline Drive.

It started around early this morning when police were called about an alleged case of aggravated rape of a child.

Detectives wanted to question a man at the home, but he reportedly refused to come out and claimed he had a gun.

They called for the SWAT team to assist in getting the man out of the home and the standoff ensued.

The victim, a girl, is reportedly at Childrens' Hospital.

"Members of our SWAT team are assisting our our detectives in the execution of a high-risk warrant on a subject wanted for 1st. Degree Rape," Col. John Fortunato said in an email.
