SWAT finds child rape suspect's home empty



Police say they man the Jefferson Parish SWAT team was looking for in Metairie, was not in the house after all.  

Cops wanted to question the suspect about the rape of a little girl, and surrounded the home on North Sibley near Airline Drive.  


Authorities say, it turns out that he was not there.  A manhunt is underway.

The child was brought to Childrens' Hospital early this morning.

Col. John Fortunato said in an email:

Members of our SWAT unit conducted an extensive search inside the home on North Sibley and were unable to locate the wanted suspect, 28 year-old Brandon Jenkins. 
 
Jenkins is wanted on a 1st Degree Rape warrant from an incident that occurred this morning in Metairie. 
 
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Brandon Jenkins is asked to contact Detective Lloyd Robichaux at 504-364-5300 or CRIMESTOPPERS. 
 
Jenkins has a prior criminal history with arrest for Burglary, Resisting Arrest, Simple Escape, Assault and numerous traffic charges.
