SEC Rankings: Tide, Gators & Tigers on top - but Bulldogs on the move

The top teams in the SEC remain clear, but we did have some movement this week in the rankings of Southeastern Conference teams.  The Bulldogs clawed their way up, while the Gamecocks dropped a couple of spots.  Here is my weekly look at how the football teams stack up:

1. Alabama 7-0 (1)
This Week: Mississippi State
Last Week: Beat Tennessee 44-13
Alabama fans finally get a good home game. So far this year they've seen Western Kentucky, Florida Atlantic and Ole Miss in Bryant-Denny Stadium.

2. Florida 7-0 (2)
This Week: Georgia in Jacksonville
Last Week: Beat South Carolina 44-11
The Gators can clinch the SEC East with a win over the Dawgs.

3. LSU 7-1 (3)
This Week: Bye
Last Week: Beat Texas A&M 24-19
Les Miles is still holding out hope the passing game will take off. It's hard to see it happening against Alabama, as the Crimson Tide only allow 137 passing yards a game.

4. Mississippi State 7-0 (6)
This Week: at Alabama
Last Week: Beat Middle Tennessee 45-3
Mississippi State leads the nation in turnover with a plus-17. Bama Quarterback AJ McCarron has not thrown an interception. Something has to give in Tuscaloosa.

5. Georgia 6-1 (5)
This Week: Florida in Jacksonville
Last Week: Beat Kentucky 29-24
What has happened to the Bulldogs defense? Georgia has allowed 34 points a game in the last three contests. Maybe the Bulldogs defense will get a boost with the return of outside linebacker Jarvis Jones. He missed the Kentucky game with a sprained ankle.

6. South Carolina 6-2 (4)
This Week: Tennessee
Last Week: Lost to Florida 44-11
Marcus Lattimore, who is fighting a hip injury, had just 13 yards last week. Lattimore, who came into the season considered one of the top running backs in the SEC, is no longer ranked in the top ten in the league in rushing.

7. Texas A&M 5-2 (7)
This Week: at Auburn
Last Week: Lost to LSU 24-19
The Aggies look to bounce back from the loss at LSU by playing the next three on the road...Auburn, Mississippi State and Alabama.

8. Ole Miss 4-3 (8)
This Week: at Arkansas in Little Rock
Last Week: Bye
The Rebels are looking for their first SEC road win since beating Vanderbilt on October 3rd, 2009.

9. Arkansas 3-4 (9)
This Week: Ole Miss (Little Rock)
Last Week: Bye
The Razorbacks have outscored their last two SEC opponents 73-14. The two teams were Auburn and Kentucky.

10. Vanderbilt 3-4 (10)
This Week: Massachusetts
Last Week: Beat Auburn 17-13
The Commodores seek their first back-to-back wins since September 2011.

11. Missouri 3-4 (12)
This Week: Kentucky
Last Week: Bye
Missouri has a good shot at winning its first SEC game, but they will likely be without their starting quarterback James Franklin this Saturday. Franklin has a sprained MCL and Corbin Berkstresser is expected to start against the Wildcats. Berkstresser threw for 126 yards and two interceptions against Alabama.

12. Tennessee 3-4 (11)
This Week: at South Carolina
Last Week: Lost to Alabama 44-13
Tennessee leads the overall series with South Carolina 22-6-and-2, but Vols Coach Derek Dooley has never beaten the Gamecocks in two tries.

13. Kentucky 1-7 (13)
This Week: at Missouri
Last Week: Lost to Georgia 29-24
Opponents have converted 54% of their third downs against Kentucky's defense.

14. Auburn 1-6 (14)
This Week: Texas A&M
Last Week: Lost to Vanderbilt 17-13
The Aggies are Auburn's best chance to win an SEC game. Georgia and Alabama are the last two SEC teams left on their schedule.
