SEC Rankings: Big Changes this week

LSU has slipped a spot in the SEC Rankings, while Florida and South Carolina each moved up two spots.  Alabama remains on top.  Georgia slid three places.  Here are my rankings this week for the Southeastern Conference.

1. Alabama 5-0 (1)
This Week: at Missouri
Last Week: Bye
Alabama is 6th in the SEC in rushing offense averaging 188 yards per game. During their national championship seasons with Nick Saban, the Crimson Tide averaged more than 215 yards per contest.

2. South Carolina 6-0 (4)
This Week: at LSU
Last Week: Beat Georgia 35-7
South Carolina leads the SEC in sacks with 25.

3. Florida (5-0) (5)
This Week: at Vanderbilt
Last Week: Beat LSU 14-6
This is the Gators last trip out of Florida for the rest of the regular season.

4. LSU 5-1 (3)
This Week: South Carolina
Last Week: Lost to Florida 14-6
More troubles for LSU’s offensive line. Coach Les Miles said on Wednesday night that starting tackle Alex Hurst may not play on Saturday. Miles said Hurst “had a kind of a nick and some issues that are personal to him and has missed some time.”

5. Georgia 5-1 (2)
This Week: Bye
Last Week: Lost to South Carolina 35-7
The Bulldogs could use a break after a four touchdown loss to the Gamecocks.

6. Mississippi State 5-0 (6)
This Week: Tennessee
Last Week: Beat Kentucky 27-14
Hard to judge the Bulldogs when their two SEC wins are against the two worst teams in the conference, Auburn and Kentucky.

7. Texas A&M 4-1 (9)
This Week: Louisiana Tech (Shreveport)
Last Week: Beat Ole miss 30-27
The first one to 45 will win in Shreveport on Saturday night.

8. Tennessee 3-2 (8)
This Week: at Mississippi State
Last Week: Bye
Vols Coach Derek Dooley will be in the press box for the game, after undergoing hip surgery.

9. Missouri 3-3 (7)
This Week: Alabama
Last Week: Lost to Vanderbilt
Missouri will get another welcome to the SEC moment this Saturday.

10. Ole Miss 3-3 (10)
This Week: Auburn
Last Week: Lost to Texas A&M
The Rebels have two winnable games coming up against Auburn and Arkansas. Getting to a bowl game is a strong possibility for the Rebels.

11. Vanderbilt 2-3 (12)
This Week: Florida
Last Week: Beat Missouri 19-15
I expect the Commodores to stay close with Florida. The Gators are coming off a big win over LSU and they have South Carolina next week. Classic trap game.

12. Arkansas 2-4 (14)
This Week: Kentucky
Last Week: Beat Auburn 24-7
The Razorbacks have a chance to get back over the .500 mark with games coming up against Kentucky, Ole Miss and Tulsa.

13. Kentucky 1-5 (13)
This Week: at Arkansas
Last Week: Lost to Mississippi State 27-14
The Wildcats have used four different quarterbacks this season. Freshman Jalen Whitlow is expected to take most of the snaps for the Razorbacks.

14. Auburn 1-4 (11)
This Week: at Ole Miss
Last Week: Lost to Arkansas 24-7
As of Wednesday, Head Coach Gene Chizik had not named a starting quarterback, but I don’t think it really matters.
