Game 2 of the LSU-Texas A&M series Friday night was suspended due to heavy rain in the College Station area. The game was halted at approximately 8:30 p.m. with the Tigers holding a 7-2 lead, and officials decided to suspend the contest just after 11 p.m.
The suspended game will resume at 9:30 a.m. Saturday on WWL AM and FM with LSU coming to bat in the top of the seventh inning. The teams will attempt a 9-inning game to finish out, but under SEC rules, no inning of game 2 will start after 11 a.m. to allow for game 3 to start as scheduled.
Game 3 of the series will start at noon Saturday, as originally scheduled. Game 3 will be a seven-inning game.
LSU struck for three runs in the second inning Friday night against Texas A&M starter Matt Kent. Second baseman JaCoby Jones delivered an RBI single, centerfielder Andrew Stevenson sacrificed a run home and designated hitter Sean McMullen belted an run-scoring double.
RBI singles by McMullen and by rightfielder Jared Foster highlighted a three-run fourth inning as LSU extended its lead to 6-0.
McMullen collected his third RBI of the game in the sixth with a double that scored Stevenson, who had singled with one out.
LSU starter Aaron Nola limited the Aggies to one earned run on six hits in six innings with no walk and four strikeouts.
