Police arrest second suspect after Northshore chase into New Orleans

The last of two shoplifting suspects who set off a chase across the Lake Pontchartrain I-10 Twin Span and a manhunt through the Irish Bayou marsh has been captured.  Police say this was more than just a case of a couple of guys ripping off a cell phone store.

"High speed chase, stolen car, stolen guns, stolen property," said Detective Daniel Seuzeneau of the Slidell Police Department. "Turns out that these guys we pursued yesterday might be wanted for a lot more than just that by NOPD,"

During the chase across the Twin Span, Det. Seuzeneau says the suspects began throwing items from the vehicle -- the smartphones they were accused of taking, "as well as a weapon, which, obviously, got our attention a lot more." He says those items all went off the bridge and into the lake, but they found more stolen items and weapons in the car after it crashed near Irish Bayou.

Officers captured one of the suspects right away, but the other disappeared into the marsh.  Seuzeneau says they arrested him without incident several hours later during the night.

"He was obviously pretty wore down after being out there for over six hours," according to Seuzeneau.
