New Orleans Saints Head Coach Sean Payton was at today's Jefferson Parish Prayer Breakfast. The coach had little to about his season-long suspension from the Saints.
He got a loud round of applause as he began.
"Thanks for a warm welcome," he told the crowd. "I appreciate the support and it was great seeing so many people that I haven't seen in a while out here this morning."
He did have some encouraging, upbeat words.
Listen to Payton:
"We're all faced with different challenges," Payton explained. "They are all hurdles, but they are hurdles we will all overcome."
There were a few laughs as Payton introduced Curtis Johnson, the Tulane football coach who was the Saints wide receivers coach.
"I am supposed to be telling him that 'we miss you over on Airline Drive' (laughter), 'the receivers ask about you' (laughter)... I can't say any of that."
