Parade weather: Rain Saturday
Dave Cohen Reporting
Rain is expected to impact some of the parades during this big pre-Fat Tuesday weekend.
WWL TV Meteorologist Laura Buchtel says tonight should be all right.
"We'll have a little shower possible along the route tonight, but that's about it. Parades should roll fine," she forecast.
The big problem, she says, it with the Saturday processions.
"Models have note really backed off on this... they have had the bull's-eye on Southeast Louisiana," Buchtel explained.
She says the rain should start in the early morning hours Saturday and keep coming for about 12 hours.
"The morning parades looking real bad. It's going to be very wet... We're expecting the rain to end in the early evening... five, six, seven o' clock or so."
Buchtel explained that the National Weather Service expects heavy downpours.
"We do have a flash flood watch for the entire area from 6:00am until 6:00pm."
She says after that things look much better.
"Sunday, sunshine and a high of 61."
Monday is looking good.
"Lundi Gras, it's going to be 65 and partly cloudy."
Buchtel says rain returns for Mardi Gras, but may hold off until the bulk of the parading is over.
"Fat Tuesday, a 40 percent chance for a shower and mild at 72... If the rain comes in later it shouldn't be much of a problem," she said.
