Northshore man charged with running international child porn ring
An Abita Springs man faces federal charges of operating a massive online child pornography ring. Federal prosecutors say Jonathan Johnson ran two websites with more than 27,000 members worldwide, that distributed images and videos of child pornography, and also offered tutorials on how to lure underage boys into sexually compromising situations.
According to the government, agents with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service learned Johnson's websites contained roughly 2,000 videos depicting sexual exploitation of young boys. The websites requires subscribers obtain a username and password. Some members were able to upload sexually explicit material.
Ten other individuals have been arrested, including a New Orleans man, and men in Georgia, Ohio, California, Minnesota, Indiana, Washington, New Jersey and Arizona.
