At Crimestoppers in New Orleans, tips and information continue to flow in on the murder of Mike Ainsworth, the 44-year-old father who died preventing a carjacking in Algiers Point. Authorities have not identified a suspect, but they do have a sketch. Crimestoppers' Darlene Cusanza says she feels good that the NOPD will make an arrest in this case.
''There's a lot of people calling and saying we just want to help, but certainly fewer people are going to know intricate details of what might have happened,'' said Cusanza.
Crimetoppers Executive Director Darlene Cusanza:
Cusanza says the $5,000 reward posted for information leading to an arrest and conviction has generated many calls but so has the crime itself.
''In order to be eligible for that Crimestoppers reward, you do need to call us directly at the number you hear everyday: 822-1111,'' she said.
Tomorrow morning, a memorial service will be held for Mike Ainsworth at St. Louis Cathedral, starting at 9:00 a.m. A reception at the New Orleans Police 8th District Station, where Ainsworth volunteered, will be held following the service.
