New movie studio on the Northshore

In another example of how Hollywood South is growing, one of the Dukes of Hazzard has built his own movie studio in Livingston Parish.

John Schneider, aka Bo Duke, says he is now directing films out of a location in Holden.

"It used to be called Camp Singing Waters there right on the Tickfaw River, and it's now called John Schneider Studios," said Schneider. "This place is fantastic. It's got buildings, two wonderful houses, a swamp, we've got an alligator out there, it's great."

Schneider has already directed the movie, "Smothered" at locations around downtown Baton Rouge and at his 58-acre studio, but it has not yet been released.

He said he's also decided to live in Louisiana and move his 82-year-old mother to the state.

Schneider says it was his childhood dream to be a director and a screenwriter, and he absolutely loves the backdrop Louisiana offers.

He says he wrote and directed the last episode of Dukes and is glad he can continue his show business career in Louisiana.
