A contestant from New Orleans has made it through all the preliminary rounds on Fox TV's American Idol.
Burnell Taylor is in the singing competition's top 10.
"I don't want to sound too cliché, but it means everything," he said after finding out America's votes had put him through. "I worked so hard, you know, physically - mentally to make sure I stay on that right track."

Idol Judge Mariah Carey described Taylor as "impeccable, impeccable."

Steer made it to the top 20, but was eliminated Thursday night.
