For the second time in three days, the New Orleans Police Department has suspended an officer without pay, pending the outcome of a criminal investigation.
NOPD announced Officer Christopher Carter has been places on emergency suspension, after the Orleans Parish District Attorney's Office filed a bill of information charging Carter with domestic abuse battery.
Police report their Public Integrity Bureau began investigating Carter in January.
Carter is a ten-year veteran who most recently served the Special Operation Division Tactical Unit.
Friday, the department announced the suspension of Detective Robert Hurst, who faces charges of attempted murder.
