Today the New Orleans Police Department said its sex crimes unit has issued a warrant for the arrest of former New Orleans Saints player Darren Sharper, for two aggravated rapes.
The NOPD also issued a warrant for an acquaintance of the former football star's.

A release from the NOPD reads:
New Orleans Sex Crimes detectives and investigators with the Orleans ParishDistrict Attorney’s Office today obtained arrest warrants for 38-year-old Darren Sharper and his acquaintance, 26-year-old Erik Nunez, for the
alleged aggravated rapes of two women in New Orleans last September. Sharper and Nunez each face two counts of aggravated rape.
Last week, investigators learned that not one, but two women were allegedlysexually assaulted by Sharper in the same apartment the night of September23rd. New information uncovered also indicates that Nunez also allegedly raped both women that night at the same location.
Louisiana law states that a person convicted of committing aggravated rape shall be punished by life imprisonment at hard labor without benefit of parole, probation or suspension of sentence.
The investigation continues and additional arrests are possible.

Sharper is already charged with rape in Los Angeles. He has pleaded not guilty.
Two women claim they met Sharper during a night out in L.A. They say the retired pro football player invited them back to his place, served them alcohol, and then they passed out. One woman says she awoke to discover Sharper in the midst of raping her.
Two other woman in Los Angeles claim Sharper drugged them. Similar complaints have been lodged in New Orleans, in Miami, Las Vegas, and Tempe, Arizona.
