NOPD Officer placed on emergency suspension for attempted murder
Today, the NOPD announced that Detective Robert Hurst has been placed on emergency suspension without pay based on a Public Integrity Bureau investigation into allegations of domestic abuse.
PIB launched an investigation on April 25th, after receiving a complaint. The investigation is on-going.
In conjunction with the investigation, the Orleans Parish District Attorney's Office has filed a Bill of Information on Hurst for criminal charges relative to Attempted Second Degree Murder and Simple Battery.
Hurst is a 10-year veteran of the NOPD and was most recently assigned to the Fifth District.
