NFL owners this week could pick New Orleans for 2018 Super Bowl

NFL owners begin their spring meeting today. Officials from New Orleans will be at that meeting to sell the league on bringing Super Bowl LII to the Crescent City in 2018.

Local officials will tell the NFL they can be part of an historic celebration.

"2018 is the tricentennial of New Orleans," Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation president Jay Cicero points out. He says they want to make the Super Bowl the premiere event of that party.

"Part of our pitch is that the Super Bowl would be a main focus of that tricentennial celebration," Cicero explained.

New Orleans will have to compete with bids from Indianapolis, which last hosted a Super Bowl in 2012, and Minnesota, which is building a brand-new football stadium.

The owners will vote tomorrow on the Super Bowl LII host site.
