NBA All Stars return to New Orleans
David Blake Reporting
The hits just keep on coming as New Orleans will be home to the NBA All Star game just about this time next year. Houston just had the honor.
Jay Cicero, President of the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation says it's another feather in our growing cap of hosting major events.
With an estimated economic impact of around $100 million dollars, he says it's really a week full of events and not just a single game.
''They'll have a similar event, like the NFL experience in the Convention Center, but there's a number of special events.''
That would include the slam dunk and 3 point shooting competition with stars and celebrities all over town.
''The NBA actually encourages that from the teams, a lot of spotlight on New Orleans,'' said Cicero.
It's now considered one of healthiest of the all star games in pro sports and New Orleans is considered a special event capitol.
