Steve Gleason, Drew Brees
Steve Gleason, right, a former New Orleans Saints NFL football special teams standout who was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, talks with Saints quarterback Drew Brees as he demonstrates the newest technology for Team Gleason House, a residence he is creating for up to 18 people with ALS and multiple sclerosis, during a news conference, Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, in New Orleans. Morning show hosts fired over radio station Gleason parody

UPDATE: The Atlanta radio morning show hosts have been fired. A statement posted on their website reads:

"We deeply regret the offensive programming that aired this morning on “Mayhem In The AM” on 790 The Zone, related to former New Orleans Saints player Steve Gleason and his battle with ALS. We suspended the three individuals involved immediately following their comments and have since terminated their employment. 790 The Zone, our owners, sponsors and partners in no way endorse or support this kind of content. We sincerely apologize to Mr. Gleason, his family and all those touched by ALS."

One of the jocks, Nick Cellini, says on his Twitter account, "No one made me apologize earlier, no one made me reach out. I was ignorant and it was the right thing to do. Got what I deserved."

An on-air  "comedy" sketch about former Saints safety Steve Gleason by an Atlanta radio station has led to the suspension of the morning show crew as well as the release of an apology by the station's owner.

On 790 The Zone program "Mayhem in the AM," three members of the morning show pretended to get a call from Gleason, who has become increasingly debilitated due to the effects of ALS.   (The full transcript of that portion of their program is below.

Following widespread online outrage and backlash from Saints fans and others, station management says they took the show off the air.

The following is the full transcript of the controversial sketch about Steve Gleason, featuring the show's hosts Steak Shapiro and Chris DiMino, along with Nick Cellini
