Miles wants to win multiple championships at LSU

Christmas came a little early for the Miles family, as the Tigers second-winningest head football coach in school history was rewarded with a raise and a contract extension. Athletic Director Joe Alleva said he was planning to address Miles’ contract after the bowl game, but the process was accelerated when Arkansas expressed interest in the mad hatter.

An internet report on Tuesday afternoon said Miles had an offer of five-years, 27.5-million dollars from Arkansas athletic director Jeff Long. Miles and Long have known each other for decades from their time at Michigan. Miles said those numbers were not accurate, but admitted to having a sincere conversation with Long.

It would have been hard to see Miles go to Fayetteville. First of all he hates the color red, because of his distain for Ohio State. Also, he knows it’s easier to win on a consistent basis at LSU compared to Arkansas.

Miles has just completed another 10-win season, his sixth in eight years. He’s able to do that because of the plethora of players he can recruit in his home-state.

Some say Miles should have more than just one national championship at LSU. But you can’t complain about an 85-and-20 record.

During his press conference on Wednesday, he sounded excited about the four-team playoff that will arrive in college football for the 2014 season. Miles knows a two-loss team like the one he has this year, could perform very well in that type of format.
Other Tiger Tidbits...

Miles endorsed LSU defensive coordinator John Chavis for the vacant head coaching job at Tennessee.

Miles admitted a potential match-up with his alma mater Michigan in the Capitol One Bowl would not be easy for him personally, but he would not do anything to prevent it from happening.

Miles does not expect any changes with his staff, but of course that would change if Chavis got the Tennessee job. However, the head coach said no one from another school has reached out to him about talking to one of his assistants.
