Miles expects Jefferson back for LSU stretch run

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) -- Les Miles expects quarterback Jordan Jefferson to be back at practice later this week as ninth-ranked LSU regroups from last weekend's loss at Alabama.

Jefferson left with an ankle injury in the second half of LSU's 24-15 loss to the Crimson Tide. Miles says Keiland Williams, Stevan Ridley and Russell Shepard could get most of the carries now that Charles Scott is lost for the season with his collar bone injury.

Although LSU is out of contention to win the Southeastern Conference, the Tigers still could play in a New Year's Day bowl with a strong finish in their final three games against Louisiana Tech, Mississippi and Arkansas.

Miles says LSU is disappointed, but remains committed to finishing strong.
