Man arrested in Jefferson Parish double murder

Jefferson Parish Sheriff's investigators have arrested a Baton Rouge man and charged him with the murder of two Metairie residents.

JPSO Col. John Fortunato says 20-year-old Melvin Miller faces two counts of 2nd-degree murder.

Police found the badly decomposed bodies of two people on Feb. 14 in an apartment in the 2200 block of Edenborn.

According to Fortunato, detectives found the murder suspect in Baton Rouge while investigating a report of a domestic disturbance between a man and a woman.

However, police say the fight turned out to have been between Miller and a transvestite, only known as "Jasmine."

Investigators say Miller was driving the stolen vehicle of one of the Metairie murder victims.  Miller's cell phone records also allegedly placed him in the area where the murders occurred in February.
