Major flooding expected from Northshore rivers

The heavy rains from Tropical Storm Isaac are expected to cause a dramatic and dangerous rise of most Northshore rivers.

The Pearl River at Pearl River is expected to swell to a level of 18 feet by early Sunday, a peak that will cause "major" flooding, according to the National Weather Service.  

An even sharper rise is expected upon the Bouge Chitto River in Franklinton.  Early Thursday, the Bogue Chitto was just under six feet.  However, within 24 hours, the river is expected to rise fifteen feet, peaking at over 18 feet by Friday morning.

The Tickfaw River at Holden is also expected to see a major rise.  Thursday morning, the Tickfaw's level was just under 11 feet.  By Saturday night, the Tickfaw will peak at 19.5 feet, considered "moderate" flooding.
