It's the end of a three day weekend, and locals are using Memorial Day to relax, eat, and spend time with loved ones and reconnect with family.
People say they're looking forward to the traditional barbecues, spending relaxing time with friends and loved ones, swimming or just generally getting in some lazy time.
The folks we talked to in the CBD have all kinds of plans, some even planning on tackling 'honey-do' lists. As for the what's going on the grill, a man waiting for the streetcar on Canal St. told me, "Ribs, hamburgers and chicken."
There were a lot of tourists around, and one man told me he's here in New Orleans for a special occasion, a family reunion. "There's 13 of us from Hawaii, Los Angeles, Spain and Canada." Their general plans were to eat their way through the city for the three-day weekend.
It's also the unofficial kick-off to summer and a lot of people's plans revolve around their kids. A mother shopping on Canal St. with her daughter told me she's spending the summer working, focusing on paying her college tuition, while her daughter says she's focused on two things this summer, "Swimming, getting ready for college."
