The mayor's "State of the City" speech touted the city's accomplishments in areas like economic development.
"We launched a public-private partnership called 'NOLA Business Alliance.' The result: 4,000 new jobs and world-class companies like General Electric are relocating here," the mayor said.
He also talked about challenges -- including violent crime. The mayor said there is progress, like a 25 percent drop in the murder rate compared to this time last year -- but he also said it's not good enough.
