New Orleans Mayor-elect Mitch Landrieu today announces the creation of fourteen new transition committees. Landrieu said he wants to "bring together a diverse group of citizens, the best and the brightest, to make recommendations on how to move our city forward."
Since his election last month, New Orleans Mayor-elect Mitch Landrieu has formed task forces to help him find a new police chief, improve the economy, and work on ideas to improve education in New Orleans.
"We're not going to fix everything overnight," Landrieu said, "but the task forces will make concrete recommendations on how to deliver results for the people of New Orleans, whether we're talking about eradicating blight, providing accessible health care, or improving customer service at City Hall."
The transition committees and co-chairs announced today are:
1. Blight, co chaired by Ellen Lee, Senior Vice President of Programs, Greater New Orleans Foundation and David Marcello, Executive Director, Public Law Center City Contracting
2. City Contracting, co chaired by Jay Lapeyre, President, The Laitram Llc and Charles Teamer, Chairman, Dryads Savings Bank
3. City Finances, co chaired by Gregory N. Rattler Sr., Senior Vice President, Government and Nonprofit Banking Group and Suzanne Mestayer, managing member, Advisean Partners, LLC
