LSU player allegedly punched woman, arrested
LSU safety Jalen Mills faces charges after allegedly punching a woman.
Jail records show he was arrested today on a charge of 2nd degree battery.
As of 8:30am bail had not been set.
LSU Sports Information Director Michael Bonnette says Mills has been suspended indefinitely from the football team.
The alleged crime happened last month.
A woman told police that Mills punched her in the face, and she was briefly unconscious after falling to the ground. She also said that she needed four stitches in her lip after the incident. A witness supported her claim that the 6 foot, 195 pound defensive back punched the 5"3, 113 pound woman.
The woman said she had gone to Mills' apartment looking for a friend, and Mills closed the door in her face. She explained that she knocked again, but there was no answer. As she walked away, she alleges, that Mills came out after her. She tells investigators she turned around and he cold-cocked her.
When police tried to questions Mills, they say he was out of town and did not return until this week. They were supposed to meet with him Tuesday, and when he didn't show up, they issued the warrant for his arrest.
