LSU basketball coach Johnny Jones has been fired after a disasterous fifth season in Baton Rouge.
Athletic Director Joe Alleva announced the firing at a press conference Friday morning, saying the search for his replacement will begin immediately.
Jones' firing comes on the heels of a 10-21 season, including a 2-16 SEC Conference record. LSU's season came to an end after a 79-52 loss to Mississippi State in the conference tournament on Wednesday.
Jones went 90-72 during his tenure at LSU. He accumulated the most wins of any coach in his first five seasons at the school, and finishes as the fourth-winnginest coach in school history.
