LSU's Gausman goes No. 4 overall in MLB draft

LSU sophomore pitcher Kevin Gausman (11-1, 2.72 ERA) was selected No. 4 overall by the Baltimore Orioles in the 2012 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft on Monday night.

Gausman, a Golden Spikes Award semifinalist, was the 16th LSU baseball player to be chosen in the first round of the MLB Draft. Including compensatory selections, LSU has produced 13 first-round picks since 1989, when pitcher Ben McDonald was the first overall selection by the Orioles.
