Kenner man killed in crash after traveling the wrong way on I-10

Louisiana State Police say a Kenner man was killed in a Sunday morning crash while driving the wrong way on Interstate 10.

Troopers say it happened about 3:30 a.m., on I-10 at mile post 201.

A preliminary investigation revealed that 54-year-old Patrick Sullivan was driving a 2011 Hyundai Elantra east in the westbound lanes of I-10.

His vehicle struck a 2007 International truck on the left side. Sullivan was transported to St. James Hospital, where he later died of injuries sustained in the crash.

The other driver involved, 30-year-old Glenn Lampton of New Orleans, had minor injuries, but refused aid on the scene.

The crash remains under investigation, however troopers suspect that Sullivan was under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.

Toxicology tests will be performed by the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab. Impairment is not suspected for Lampton.

All lanes on I-10 were reopened at approximately 6:15 a.m.
