Inmate dies in Terrebonne Jail



Officials from the Terrebonne Parish Jail are investigating the death of an inmate, according to Sheriff Jerry Larpenter.

Around 1:45 p.m. Friday, an unidentified inmate was found unresponsive in his cell, according to Larpenter.  Emergency personnel were called and attempted to the revive the inmate, but were unsuccessful.  The inmate was pronounced dead at 2:07 p.m.

The inmate had been booked into the jail Thursday afternoon around 12:45 p.m. on a domestic battery abuse charge and entering and remaining after being forbidden, according to Larpenter.
Detectives are investigating the death.  The name of the inmate hasn't been released since his family hasn't been located and notified on the death, according to Larpenter.
