Hurricane Center: ''Too early to determine'' where Isaac will go

The National Hurricane Center's official predicted landfall track for Tropical Storm Isaac is now near the Mississippi / Alabama line as a category 2 hurricane early Wednesday morning. However, officials note that a hurricane watch extends from Morgan City, Louisiana, to the Florida Panhandle. Some major models project that Isaac will land in Southeast Louisiana, while others still point toward the Panhandle as the likely target.
Forecasters say Isaac got a little stronger overnight and currently has top sustained winds of 65 miles per hour.
The Hurricane Center expects Isaac to have winds sustained at 105 miles per hour when it hits the coast early Wednesday morning.
Several computer models call for Isaac to hit New Orleans while others are forecasting a path to the Florida Panhandle. The current official predicted landfall location is in the middle of the model forecasts.
Government forecasters warn that "confidence in the long-range track forecast is quite low... and it is too early to determine exactly where and when Isaac will make landfall along the Gulf Coast."
The Hurricane Center says that further track adjustments are anticipated later today.
A Hurricane Watch is now up for the Gulf Coast from Southeast Louisiana to the Central Florida Panhandle, including the Metro New Orleans Area and Lake Pontchartrain.
