There are still many unanswered questions for Houma Police Detectives probing the pit bull attack that killed a four-year-old girl. So far there are no charges against the owner because police say there's no evidence of wrongdoing at this time.
Houma Police Chief Todd Duplantis says "there's no research that the dog suffered any kind of abuse or showed any type of dog fighting or being trained to dog fight."
At 130 pounds, the chief says animal control believes the dog was unusually large and muscular.
"They find the animal was a very large pit bull and had to have been bred to be that size," he said.
As the investigation continues, Duplantis is asking residents to be as careful as possible with their dogs around children and adults.
