A helicopter crashed in Port Fourchon as it was taking off this morning.
"As soon as it got up in the air, it started having trouble and tilted," Port Commission Executive Director Chett Chiasson told WWL First news. "The pilot did an excellent job getting it down as safely as he possible could."
He says the chopper went down hard between some buildings, but all nine people on board walked away.
"Everybody is okay... no major injuries," Chiasson said.
The aircraft is owned by Myu Helicopters.
"It does have some considerable damage... it more than likely won't be flying for a while if at all," the director explained.
