New Orleans Police say it is perfectly legal to bring ladders to parade routes, such as Orleans Avenue, to view parades.
"The rule hasn't changed...that folks who want to bring ladders out to the parade, for Endymion on Orleans are absolutely welcomed," says Deputy Police Chief Marlin Defillo.
"The only thing we ask is that the ladder has to as far back from the curb as it is high, not to chain the ladders together, and to lay the ladders down so they don't blow away until parade time," says Defillo.
"If you leave property on the median, unattended, then you stand the risk of those ladders or furniture or whatever being picked up," he says. "Now, if you're out there with your property...that's fine, that's okay."
So, far as folks bringing ladders? Defillo says "Absolutely! Bring 'em out there...have a good time."
