Hard freeze with flurries possible in S.E. Louisiana
Dave Cohen Reporting
A cold front will drop us into the 20's on both sides of the lake for early Friday morning.
There is a chance of snow flurries or sleet mostly north and west of Lake Pontchartrain.
"There is a slight chance for light sleet of snow flurries," according the Channel 4 Meteorologist Laura Buchtel. "The best chance to see it will be between 9:00pm and midnight (Thursday night)."
Friday looks frigid.
"It's going to stay cold add day and cloudy," Buchtel forecasts. "Highs barely reaching 40 and still a 20 percent chance for some light sleet."
Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal declared a state of emergency, to allow for uninterrupted delivery of propane and other heating fuels, the Governor's Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness announced.
"Stay aware of the forecast for your area and listen for possible winter weather notices from your local emergency managers," says GOHSEP Director Kevin Davis in a news release. "Please take a moment to make sure you have your game plan in place to protect your family, your homes and your pets."
